Film Show & Tell

Elena, Will, Rebecca and Eva at Film Show & Tell

September was Brighton Digital Festival month here in our lovely home city, and on Thursday 27th September we were really proud to take part in Film Show & Tell, an event organised by Rebecca Watkin, supported by local digital organisation Wired Sussex and hosted by Lighthouse, a leading digital culture agency.

Film Show & Tell featured presentations from three local filmmakers, who screened their films and talked about the processes of making them. The screenings were followed up by a lively Q&A where members of the audience had the opportunity to delve into the filmmakers’ working methods and practices.

Dolls’ director Elena Saorin presented our live-action teaser and spoke about the multi-platform nature of the project and how the film has developed to encompass multiple formats including live performances, music and artworks. She was joined by independent director Eva Riley and Will Jewell of Fractured Films: Eva was presenting one of her student works, Close, a 16mm film that led her to go on to a place at the National Film & Television School; and Will was presenting his short film Man In Fear, which he is currently developing into a feature film of the same name.

Film Show & Tell was followed by Brighton’s monthly filmmakers’ meetup, the Green Room, where we had a stall displaying the surprisingly wide amount of props, puppets and paraphernalia we’ve been amassing throughout the course of the project – as well as a sneak peek at our first edit of the live action footage!

We had a great evening meeting lots of local filmmakers and film lovers, and got some great inspiration and feedback. We’d like to thank Rebecca of Wired Sussex for organising the event and for inviting us to take part.
